If we go back forty some years, I was in a German Class and we spent a week in Berlin as guest of the CDU/CSU, great accomodation not that far from the Brandenberg Gate.

One night, one very, very late night we were in a different bar and the 'ladies' of the evening started coming back from their evening out. Most were half black. One of the Germans in our group started asking questions. One comment that emerged was they were children of American soldiers and that was the only profession they could follow because of their skin color. That was just across the wall from the Russia sector where some of them worked.
