I see your downvote; I wasn't calling you out.
I was genuinely curious about your opinion.
Most Texas sheriffs are up to *here* with being charged with dealing with US immigration law, when the federal government is doing next to nothing to support them--logistically and/or financially.

I think that DHS should enforce the laws as written. This administrations policy of no detentions and enforcement is counter productive, however, last administrations detention push wasn’t productive either.
Ultimately though immigration status is not the concern of local law enforcement, as much as they may want it to be.
