He has no authority to enforce US immigration law, those are strictly federal. So by doing what he did he is actually committing a more major crime than illegal entry. No room for nuance here though.

I see your downvote; I wasn't calling you out.

I was genuinely curious about your opinion.

Most Texas sheriffs are up to *here* with being charged with dealing with US immigration law, when the federal government is doing next to nothing to support them--logistically and/or financially.
