I'm looking forward to my first visit to Tiger Stadium Saturday. Now that kickoff time has been determined, our group is going to try to arrive around 8am. Any advice on traffic, parking, etc? We will be coming from New Orleans.

thx

I remember you. Glad to see you weren't joking around. Were you able to get tickets for everybody?

Here's a link to your original post. Some of the guys are joking, but there is some good game day advise in there. If something looks like it is interesting from that original post just ask everybody if you should do it.

Your first post.

Being a 2:30 game, you shouldn't have a problem, but pace yourself...too much beer/booze and great food can cause you to have a short afternoon.

Sorry you won't see Death Valley in all its splendor at night, but it will be a crazy atmosphere none the less.

Get off at Dalrymple exit, head towards campus, take a right on State street and find a place to park. Go to the Varsity/ The Chimes. Have a bloody mary, maybe some decent food, watch the early games, walk down Chimes street to the other bars along the street, a couple hours before kickoff head through campus to the Indian mounds to check out some tailgating.

Walk down the "hill" and see Mike the Tiger's crib, head over to touchdown village (or whatever it's called) with the RV's and more tailgating. People are usually pretty friendly and more than willing to share, although BYOB is probably best.

Have a good one.

arrive earlier than 8am, we used to get out at 5am especially with the early kickoff. wear your colors and have a good time, make sure you see the band come down the hill and pregame from the stands. cheer loud for us and dont park on the oak trees roots

must sees:

Mike's cage
pregame
band coming down the hill
tailgating in rv lot and all around

1.) there is some construction occuring on I-10 between Laplace and Airline Highway (La-61)...try to get out of the airport as soon as possible to beat the traffic.

2.) Make sure you have an ice chest full of Coors just in case you do catch a little traffic...shouldn't be too much trouble.

3.) DON'T WEAR RED PANTS!!!

4.) Get to a parking spot quickly...

5.) Have a great time!!!

Wear anything Yellow/white/purple

If you dont, and you get the 'tiger bait' taunt, laugh and walk away.

Dont use a porty poddy near a tailgating area with a bunch of drunk tiger fans (if you wear UGA COLORS)

Let me to be the first to say that the Bruins suck, Kevin Craft got lucky on Saturday, and the refs were clearly in your pocket especially during UCLA's second quarter FG drive.

With that out of the way, neutral colors are without a doubt the way to go. If you wear Bruins gear, expect to be subjected to at least one lengthy harangue about the SEC's superiority to PAC 10 and how much California in general sucks. These jerks represent maybe 10% of LSU fans, but they are a vocal and aggressive sort.

8 -9 am arrival is a good time. There is absolutely no reason to show up at 5am unless you are setting up your own tailgate spot. If you are just wandering around, there will be nothing for you to do. The Chimes is always a good call, but get there early as there will be a wait.

Be forewarned, though, once you it through an SEC game in Tiger Stadium, games at the Rose Bowl crowd will look like the crowd for the local high school j.v. team.

Other than the fact that it is extraordinarily effeminate and makes you look like an escapee from the Ronald McDonald School for the Mentally Challenged?

There is a bounty on all persons wearing red pants on saturday. Some LSU frats will be paying/rewarding pledges and members for violence against these persons.

If you are on campus for 8:00 a.m. you will be fine for parking. It might not be the absolute quickest, but coming from New Orleans the easiest way to park is to get off I-10 at exit 177 and take a left onto Hwy 30. This will lead you all the way into campus. Just get as close as you can to the stadium and park on the side of the road. If you turn your car back towards the direction you came from, you will be able to get out very easily. But since this is a day game, you might not want to leave too early after the game.

This should put you near a pretty large number of tailgate spots. I've been tailgating in the RV's and parking here for years now.

ETA: Don't speed on Hwy. 30. Usually a ton of cops.

Go over to touchdown village - RV parking - just asked anyone for directions - explain to any of them cooking or chilling what you guys are doing. You will be welcomed with open arms. No USC colors or clothing!!!
