You could not pay me to go on a Carnival cruise.
My grandparents say that there is a really high-end one that goes to like Antarctica and shite and there's a much more...pleasant...crowd on them so it's a very nice experience. Might give that a go if I ever get the urge to take a cruise.

Know a guy that goes on 3-4 a year with his wife. they LOVE cruises. I asked him about trashy people and he had a great rule of thumb.
Look at the cheapest room rate in the ship, and determine if you want to be around people that can barely afford that
