Holstein didn't want to sit behind Howard again.

It's been discussed numerous times.

Recently it was discussed how out of touch this take is/was. True, Holstein changed schools rather than sit behind Howard at STM in high school. His reward for that was to become an elite level recruit instead of a budding hopeful starter his Sr yr.

However, with regard to college Holstein has to know he has to compete with the best in the country if he goes to any elite program. So the narritive that he does not want to sit behind Howard is pretty much a BS assumption made by the rantards on here. He is going to have to battle some other top dog wherever he goes.

This is true. However, at LSU he is behind Walker Howard who is only one year ahead of him. At Bama, he will be coming in after Bryce Young is gone and the job is much more open.

It’s pretty common sense that you take your chances battling against people you don’t know rather than battle against someone you do know and who was already ahead of you before.

Exactly. This is common sense. It’s like someone just says something, then a bunch of idiots start repeating it.

Holstein had a 5 star prospect a class ahead of him. He coulda been the next John Elway and he wouldn’t win that job. So he decided to go somewhere else to get on the field. That turns into “Holstein scared to compete”.

It’s been mentioned Howard sat behind a guy who is now at Louisiana Tech. So does that mean LSU’s 5 star qb couldn’t beat out a guy who ended up at Tech? By this board’s logic that’s what it means.

The reality is, in high school football, if the older guy is decent, he will have the job. That’s why Howard sat behind Tech guy, and why Holstein left. Even in college a lot of times teams play the older guy over the more talented younger guy.
