When you condition citizens to view society and the state as one and the same, you will never stray from collectivism. Bastiat wrote that if being against state-enforced equality makes you against equality, you could just as easily argue that if you oppose the government farming grain you're opposed to people eating.
Think about most issues here in America. When something bad happens, our immediate reaction is "the government must do something". That's because we've completely blurred the lines between society's action (through an aggregate of individual choices) and government action.

My grandfather was alive during the Depression, he told me exactly what happened when the lovely democrats sent checks to people, they stopped even trying to find a job. Yes. Stopping checks from the govt will result in even more homelessness, more crime, and a bigger shithole of a country than we have now. I don’t like it one bit, but you can’t go back on government assistance. The cat is out of the bag.

I mean yeah it would for a time, but the long run would be 100x better than what we’ve got right now.

My wife and I actually recently miscarried and are exploring adoption. I would have no problem with a black baby. They don’t come out of the womb robbing liquor stores you know?
