I might go and buy some myself…seeds will keep for decades if you put them in a freezer.

As long as the freezer holds out anyway.

When I lived in the house my parents had built for my maternal grandparents I inherited their seed collection. Had varieties of squash and peas and beans no longer available, heirloom tomatoes, all kinds of wonderful veggies, flowers too.

Took the job of Radiology Manager for a chain of 17 boutique surgical hospitals all over east and central Texas and so I was away from home for months at a time. One of those times power failure and the freezer didn't restart. Could smell the rotting contents of the freezer while unlocking the front door. The most painful loss was those seeds!

Forget the meats and fish, those seeds hurt to lose damnit!

Now I desire for large white scalloped squash, so tasty those were.

Look at the germ test date. They throw most of that stuff away because it’s out of date. I’m guessing it’s getting close to that date and they can’t sell it.

That's exactly what's going on. Every seed packed should have a date stamped on it, usually on the back that is essentially a "Best Used By" date.

It will say something like-----Seed for 21, sell by 12/21

Germ tests good for 9 months in Louisiana. I know nothing specific about vegetables but different seeds hold the germ much better than others
