In theory it is something like five, in practice it depends on what the moon phase is and how likeable you are.

I have never attempted to push this limit but I assume if you are some combination of a fun and likeable person, socially well connected, a reliable crew member on wednesday nights, or posses some serious hardware from winning more serious races, you have a better chance of getting around that rule.

This is not a common rule at most yacht clubs or private clubs, just the really old and traditional ones. Carolina, New York, and Golden Gate are similar, you can't just walk in and flash a Biloxi Yacht Club card and expect to get a ride with Larry Ellison or Dennis Conner.

Most yacht clubs are part of a greater association with a blanket reciprocity agreement.
