Don’t mind playing in Atlanta again. Just wish we weren’t playing a team we just played last season. Really hope they somehow get us another game against Syracuse at MSG. Covid ruined that trip.

Our last trip to the garden with that awful Trent team was pretty, pardon my German, exceptionally gay

I posted these earlier this week before the Big 12 opponent was announced.
Here is who LSU is playing as of now:
11/12 - Arkansas St.
11/17 - UNO
11/21 - Cayman Islands Classis (this was already known)
11/27 - Wofford
12/17 - Winthrop (Eagles)
12/21 - E. TN. St.
TBA - Tx Tech
These all come from the signed contracts already posted to LSU’s site.
Adding the Wake Forest games means we are up to 9 known OOC games by my count. Thus far (with 4 games left to set) the schedule is a bit disappointing. Wake was a solid team last year, but they are expected to take a bit of a step back. Texas Tech was really good. But they are another team expected to take a small step back. More than that though, I think the fact that LSU played Wake last season and TTU at home two seasons ago probably leads to a bit of the disappointment. Most would probably like to see "new" matchups. The Cayman Island tournament field looks weak, to say the least.
I'm still holding out hope McMahon can schedule a major conf. opponent in the PMAC in Nov/Dec. Maybe even another neutral site game with a solid team. Wade always had good OOC schedules to give LSU a boost in the NET. That said, they weren't terribly "exciting" schedules for the program. Many didn't even pay attention to LSU basketball until SEC play started in January. That wasn't always the case when LSU would get games at home vs. Arizona, or UConn, Utah, West Virginia, Washington, Xavier, Marquette, etc.
There is a lull between the end of football season (last weekend in Nov.) and the start of SEC play (January) where fans would LOVE to come out to watch a basketball game. Unfortunately, games vs. Winthrop or ETSU (even though they may be solid teams) just aren't going to get the casual fan to come out

They have 11 of 13 OOC games accounted for.
There are three in the Cayman Islands (opponents not named yet).

I just hope we can maintain student interest/attendance. 21-22 was our best in that regard (in awhile) even in November-December.

And the Roos on November 9th
Why don’t you just say the name of the school instead trying to be coy by only saying a mascot? It’s not like this info can’t be found on LSU’s website.
For others, the Roos are the Univ. of Missouri-Kansas City.
And the Eagles being played on 12/13 is N. Carolina Central.
This OOC home schedule is not good.

I’d love to know which, if any, power 5 teams we reached out to for games.

Yep...which is disappointing for a new coach essentially trying to reignite interest in the program. Casual fans just saw the headlines that Wade was fired, the entire team either left for the draft or entered the transfer portal, and that LSU is expected to get a postseason ban. The reality is that McMahon has put together what looks to be a competitive roster, and there is no indication whatsoever a "postseason ban" is imminent. In fact, the presumption that a postseason ban EVER comes is pure speculation without understanding the details of the investigation.
Still, very few casual fans are going to get excited about games vs. UNO, UMKC, North Carolina Central. To be fair, Wade's home schedules did not have a lot of "star power" either. But there was a method to the madness in scheduling mid-majors that would provide a big boost to the NET rating. I'm not quite sure this particular schedule has that.
Perhaps this year's schedule will be a "one-off" for a new HC in that he tried to get a better schedule in place, but couldn't, for any number of reasons. Perhaps he wanted a bit of a light schedule before SEC play due to the fact this is a (almost) completely new team trying to learn to play with each other in a (almost) completely new system and he didn't want to risk taking a lot of L's while he and his teams worked out the kinks. The downside is weak schedules, as always, lessen the margin of error come March.
McMahon hasn't coached a single game at LSU, so I think he is entitled to the benefit of the doubt. Still, it's a bit disappointing there doesn't look to be any intriguing basketball games before January.

Eh I’m ok with a weak non conference schedule year one. Completely rebuilt roster with a new coach and system and the conference will be very good so you will get plenty of quality games. I’m good with easing in to the first year and racking up some wins to build momentum and confidence. Plus there are some mid major games on there that could be sneaky good NET games y’all are overlooking. Really not much off what Wade usually did. I think getting off to a good start is more important than stirring up fan excitement with the cloud of controversy we ended the year with.
