Acoustic soundhole pickups

I like the idea of these as I can switch one back and forth between multiple guitars but have never owned one before.
I'm trending toward the Fishman Neo D.
Anyone have any experience with this or any other soundhole pickups?
I don't play plugged in a ton but when I do, I'm usually plugged into a PA system, wondering how that would work with no preamp?

Have one of these hard wired in on my Takamine. It's usable, but I'm not crazy about it. Something with tone and volume controls is much better.
