One day in Chicago. Suggestions before a night Cubs game?

Only have one free day and plan to go to a Cubs game at 7pm with 2 high school age kids. Any suggestions on how to spend the day before the game? Kids want to go up the Sears tower. Is it worth going to a museum if you only have a few hours?

Rent the electric bikes and cruise up and down the lake. In Chicago you can get to all the popular attractions on bike. The neighborhood around Wrigley is really nice to ride around also

Lots to be had... can enjoy the day.
This is spot on as well...
The Sears tower isn't bad.. its pretty neat, we actually had lunch at Au Cheval (your boys would enjoy) then went over to do Sears Tower. Or you could do Sears Tower before then go to Au Cheval after....
I'd recommend Sluggers for pre-cubs game. I found out late from a buddy and was able to bring my 14 year old in the arcade/indoor batting cage they have there. It's pretty much right across from Wrigley. I'd pregame there a little bit then if possible maybe head to Waveland Ave and try to catch some BP balls that come out the park. Think that would be pretty neat.

Former Chicago resident here.
Your kids might like the Sears, it's pretty cool. The museums are more involved, you could spend the entire afternoon at one museum.
Maybe spend the morning at Sears, lunch at Miller's Pub (huge burgers and steaks, not expensive), afternoon at Shedd Aquarium, Red Line subway up to Addison, grab some pizza and walk around Wrigleyville, grab a t-shirt or hat, have a beer for yourself. Wrigleyville is a bit of a French Quarter vibe but less trashy. There is a new "village" that the team opened on Clark immediately west of the ballpark, I hear its fun.
Michael Jordan's has a restaurant downtown. I don't go because it's not where I hung out back in the day, but your boys might enjoy. It is not cheap.
Also the Boeing store downtown is kind of cool if its still open.

I loved the architecture river cruise and would be a fun 1.5 hours. The start of it is on the same road (magnificent mile) that sears tower is on. There’s another skyscraper too that has a thing where it tilts you over the city (enclosed), and is pretty cool.

Yeah if they haven't been in a big city like CHI before then they will just enjoy walking around and seeing all of the sights. Down MAG Mile they have a big 5-7 story nike store? My 14 year old enjoyed that
I'm sure they have other stuff on Mag Mile yall could check out... not far from the Bean as well.
Always a go-to no matter the time of the year is the Chicago Athletic Association Hotel. Pretty cool old Game Room in there yall could have fun with. Get some Apps and hang.
Everytime these CHI threads pop up I just wanna go back

I don't think I'd do the museum with one day but with HS kids if you started early you could do a half day easily.
I'd do the Mag Mile for sure, the electric bikes up the lake is a great idea also. If you could ride them up the lake and drop them off close to Wrigley that would be sweet, I don't know where you can drop off that far north? Its a good walk from the lake to Wrigley but not terrible.
I would absolutely plan to get to the game 2-3 hours early. Plenty to walk around Wrigleyville and just hang out pre game.
ETA: Depending on when you are going, check the weather! It can be chilly with a wind off the lake anytime of the year.

Divvy stations are all over the north side. There are four within 10 minutes walking of Wrigley, including two that are almost directly outside the stadium.

Potential problem with that is others will jam up the stand long before you get there. Have a backup plan, know some stands half mile away. Maybe drop your bikes at Belmont/Sheffield L station and walk up Sheffield.
