There is no doubt in my mind, if any of those Rottweilers could get out of there chain-linked enclosures, I would be dead. Those dogs made it very clear. what there intent was.
Damn. You don't hear of this often from Rottweilers, but they definitely have the tools to kill someone.
One of guys that worked there, told me they had a incident where two got into a fight. Said it was almost impossible to separate them.

We need background checks and longer waiting periods on this breed. That will solve it.

Anybody with any sense of risk management or common sense would never own a pet like this and/or especially subject a child to the risk of having a pet like this live in their home.
I couldn't stand to live a life in fear analyzing every move I made based on risk management.

Is it a status or pride thing?
No, it’s called home defense. I sleep well at night knowing Inside my living room are 2 Dobermans on 24 hour watch. When I leave for work, I am confident that my house is safe from intruders. I enjoy the comfort of knowing my family will have a line of defense before I even have to take action.

There really isn’t elevated risk if you dont train it to be an a-hole. That’s the misunderstanding, it’s not like a pit.
Time after time, all I hear from the apologists is "it's how they're raised". Meanwhile, stories pop up all the time about certain breeds attacking a family member, neighbor, or just some innocent person walking down a sidewalk.

For pits.

Guarantee she raised them to be.

Or, "let me beat the shite outta this kid, the dogs won't stop me."

quote:I have no idea how she raised them, but I do know these were extremely expensive dogs. She imported her breeding dogs directly from Germany. This was over 15 years ago, and her pups sold for thousands of dollars. Hard to imagine there's a market for super expensive dogs, that you couldn't have around people and other dogs.
Guarantee she raised them to be.
I also had experience with a guy who raised and sold Belgian Malinois. Trained and sold them to police departments. Absolutely the most highly trained dogs I have ever seen. Completely alert, and waiting for a command. Showed absolutely no aggression towards any other dogs. His wife was a dog groomer and he was in her shop all the time with his dog unleashed.

I don't believe you. German ADRK standards would not allow these dogs to be bred, as the standards are placed very heavily on temperament, which must be evaluated before any Rottweiler is bred in Germany.

They’re 2nd in attacks on most of the lists I see. They’re a distant 2nd, but there also not as many of them as pits.

My cousin had a beautiful male German shepherd, good temperament, well behaved, never had a problem with the dog around his two kids. One day, his son was swinging on the swing set in the backyard and somehow he fell out of the seat and broke his arm. He was laying on the ground crying, my cousin ran out there to get his son, but the dog was standing there guarding the kid, wouldn't let anyone near the kid. They ended up getting rid of the dog.

What's your point? We can do that with anything. Does this mean we should start banning races?
Posted on 6/7/22 at 12:08 pm to greygoose
People pay a lot for guard dogs bred and raised to be on the aggressive side.

My first dog was a female Collie. Not only would she protect me but any child in the neighborhood. I was bout 7 years old when my dad was about to spank me, she came out of nowhere and grabbed his hand, didn't bit him, just pulled his hand down. Great dog!!

It’s not my fault if you didn’t read the name involved and don’t get the joke.

hmm...cause races are exactly the same thing as dog breeds? interesting take. also interesting that that's what popped into your head, but not relevant to my post. i was actually posting some relevant stats, specifically to the comment(s) about it being somewhat unusual to hear Rottweilers killing people, which i suppose it is, but more prevalent than many might think.
but, yes, i'm all for banning the breeding and buying of pit bulls and Rottweilers.

I thought it was pretty well known Rottweilers were number 2 on the list behind Pits
