Can any coach explain to me why you would promote someone who couldn't coach special teams to co-defensive coordinator. In private industry, we fire such individuals.

BDP has been a very successful DC before.

You better watch out dude. The big time LSU Fans on this site who "SUCK" down the purple and gold Kool-Aid are going to chastise you for saying that.

Les is too loyal to his friends. There is no football explanation for it. I think he will hire someone after the season. He isn't going to go down for their sake.

The irony here is that if Peveto was the sole DC every one of the blitz happy rantards would have the defense they've always wanted...go back and check out his defenses at Northwestern.

Three possible reasons:
1. He wanted continuity from the great defense we had last year and he thought the two new dc's learned Pellini's schemes last year. Bringing in a great new coordinator would be risky the first year.
2. He wanted to be "loyal" to his generals and promote from within to help ensure moral in the ranks.
3. He had a Brain Fart! He should have realized that having the best DC and OC in the nation last year translated into a NC team.

Has anyone seen this question on this board within the last week? I sure haven't. this is a fresh new subject. I really haven't seen anyone say this at all all week. this is a great subject and should be debated for the rest of the day until kickoff.

You mean the big time LSU fan brown nosing :asskisser: types running around wearing cheerleaders panties covered with purple and gold lace?
Nah, there's none of those here........

So, he was willing to go down this year for his friend, but he won't be willing next year.
You are a stupid frick.
I'm quite sure that Miles hired the guy(s) that he thought would give the team the best chance at success. And, if he makes a change that the end of the year, I'm quite sure he'll be doing it for exactly the same reason.

If he had just picked one, specifically the blitz happy Peveto, I think we'ed be having a different argument.

Have you ever considered that he tried to find a DC that would be better and could not find one? I know that he talked to some. I think he brought these guys in from OSU. Am I right? I think this job was a bigger step up than he thought. SEC football is in a league all its own. The DCs thought they were ready, but there is nothing like learning from experience. Calling the Ds and adjusting them is a big deal. Just because a guy can coach a position really well or recruit, etc......does not mean he will be a great DC.

Peveto has been a successful DC in the past and he LOVES blitzing

Agree.... I think he felt the passion last week.
Now here is another thought..remembering that Les is not/has never been in DEFENSE..he may have thought that between the 2 DCs, they understood the system already in place; however, there is a diff between understanding it and understanding to the level of implementation/adjustment...2 diff things.
Also, with the POLITICAL correctness crap that exits in a corporate environment, neither of the 2 DCs may want to step on the other ones's toes...
and therefore there is no fury.
