Yeah and people died at 48 also.
And families were generally much larger; more kids to share the burden.
And wives/mothers worked in the home.
Maybe the fast paced culture with career minded women, rampant single parenthood, having no kids or 1-2 kids, living in various states, etc. has some significant downsides later in life.
