As I mentioned before myself, my mom and my 13 yo daughter are planning a trip to Italy in July. Also mentioned...I recently (about a week after the trip was booked) had emergency open abdominal surgery. I'm recovering well and luckily didn't lose any intestines. Just a lot of rearranging. Then last week I had to cancel an adults only Exuma trip two days prior because our entire group either tested positive or had a kid with covid. GOOD TIMES!! So at this point I'm considering a comprehensive, no pre existing condition, medical treatment, evacuation and trip cancellation travel insurance policy. It needs to cover me, my mom and my daughter for 16 days. I have received a quote underwritten by ARCH insurance? on travelinsurance.com. Does anyone have experience with this sort of thing? I want to make sure I am paying 700$ for a reputable policy.

I get UHC Safe Trip. It provides international health coverage and you can add traditional trip insurance to it. Your health insurance plan will not be accepted outside of the US should you have a major injury/accident.

Backed by United Healthcare

If you just get the health insurance, it should only cost you less than $200 for all 3 for 16 days with $0 deductible and $1 mil in coverage.

I’m assuming you don’t have to be a UHC customer to purchase this? Looks like a good deal for peace of mind.

I looked at that policy and can’t find anywhere for a pre existing waiver.

We have used coverage from Allianz for international travel. The policy was very comprehensive, but we never had to file a claim.

For domestic travel we sometimes op for insurance when buying tickets online from the carrier. Once we had to delay return travel for a medical problem. Insurer covered all added expenses for travel and extended stay.

When evaluating policies look carefully at evacuation. Some policies only get you to nearest country with suitable caregiving... not always back to USA. Also check to see if a dead body is repatriated.

Thanks! Hope to avoid, but I've seen that in a lot of the policies.

No, you do not have to be a UHC member. It’s available to anyone. It’s a very good deal.

Take screen shots of your documents for easy access and print out a copy just in case.

I’d call to ask about pre-existing conditions. It’s really designed for emergencies (injuries, falls, heart attack, etc.)

UHC Safe Trip does cover repatriation:
