Yes. I am buying tickets and can be behind one of those dugouts and would prefer to be behind the LSU dugout for my son. I assume your answer is "i don't know"

Call the USM ticket office and ask which dugout is the home team dugout.

He told you in his answer. LSU is the home team. That should designate which dugout they will be in if things are done in the traditional format.

If

from pictures online it appears that USM uses the third base dugout as their dugout. It doesn't say on their stadium map.

I think they’ve changed this for when the game involves the host team and they are allowed to use their normal dugout.

No it hasn’t. It is considered a competitive advantage. Usm is not involved in the game anyway.
Only exception is the second game of double header the team aren’t asked to switch dugouts

What is the benefit of being behind the dugout for your son? Why is that where you want him to sit?

Why are you such a douche? The guy is just asking a simple reasonable question to help his son have a good experience. Either answer the question or STFU

3rd base dugout is the home dugout. Bullpens are the main difference between the two dugouts.

Apparently punctuation isn't included in this method.

Third base is the traditional home team assignment in little league. I have gone to Cajuns games quite a few times because a friend had extra tickets we would give us. Cajuns also use the third base dugout as their dugout.

I have only been to the Box a few times and did not really notice where LSU was situated. So my response to you was not very good, I must admit. Looking further into this it seems that everything from high school to the pros is decided by the home team during regular play.

So my right answer should have also been I don't know. My apology. Eating crow once again for being a smart arse.
