When both the republicans and democrats realized that the easiest way to rake in money was to blame literally everything on the other side, which was right around the time social media took off.
So now you have two factions of people screaming at the sky, blaming the other side for every bad thing that happens, while the smart people in the middle roll their eyes at both sides and continue to actually find things to enjoy in life.
