What kind of sound would you chase? And what pickups, controls and hardware would you use?
I'm thinking vintage telly at the bridge and a P90 at the neck. It's guesswork what would be the best though, so I wanted some other ideas. Mini- HB at the neck? Just p90s?
It's just a piece of wood right now.

Bridge humbucker with coil split, and Tele at the neck. Gives you some options.

I’m doing a build now with an Amalfitano P90 in the neck and a Fender CS no caster bridge pickup. Should rip!

How far along is it? I haven't even started cutting the body yet. I've got a great slab of mahogany though, with some really nice figuring.
This one is probably going to take a while, I want to put all the best of everything on it, and I am already in the process of putting a thinline together. Kind of have to buy parts as I can afford them, but I might sell something else, to get the mahogany one finished sooner.

Never heard of a teak neck. I'm big into non-maple or alternate wood necks. My favorites are walnut and wenge.

What does it look like? How's the grain? very curious.

Teak is dense, heavy and oily by nature, it doesn't shrink and it's impervious to rot. That's why boatbuilders love it.

I've read it is so hard and dense that it prematurely dulls and damages tools and blades working with it. It will eat router bits like peanuts. Its oiliness can render hide or modern water-soluble glues ineffective too ... good thing Auggie's Tele is a one-piece neck with no stress-bearing adhesive seams, otherwise it would explode under string tension heh heh.

It would make absolutely zero sense for a luthier or a guitar manufacturer to work with it frequently, thera are too many better choices. But teak would be cool to pursue in a one-off build, even if only for the novelty.

The neck is 1 piece, that I ordered online. It hasn't been delivered yet, I've only seen photos. It looks very nice, a dark wood, but I expect I will need to do some more sanding and fret work. That's fine, I will have time to do it.
It's just something different, and I thought it would look great with the mahogany that I will be using for the body. If it doesn't work out tonally, I will swap it out for a roasted maple neck.
I'm hoping though, because of the density and stability of teak, it may work to my advantage. The neck wasn't really expensive, so I thought it was worth a try.

Body is painted but not cleared. I’ve got all the parts but haven’t had time to work on it.
