Here's an answer from another thread...,
Guns are not the issue simply a means
Take or restrict that means and another means would be utilized
Solution?
Address the humans upbringing, social exposure and moral foundation
All of these to which the government has supported and encouraged to destroy

DOD contractor
Plenty of DOD contractors have been killed over the years while working in a so called “prison.”
I’d rather my kids be able to go outside and play and have some sun shining into the classroom. You’re idea is dumb and your idea of security is outdated and stupid.

On a normal school day without a shooter, how do the kids get down the hall to use the bathroom and then get back into the classroom?

Not all. Apparently not this one.

Who said they couldn't go outside or have windows?
I never said that. I also never said my plan would prevent any attempt. Just that it would help.
And I love how a fence, some cameras, and metal doors locked from the outside make things a prison.
Walmart has metal fire exits locked from the outside... is it a prison or a firey titanic?
I drove past probably 15 businesses with chain linked fences around the whole business or at least the back area on the way to work. I guess every storage unit, boat marina, land fill, amusement park, etc is a prison? I guess football fields are prisons too, cause they usually have a fence around them and gate to go through.
I'm pretty sure just about every business has a camera system now.
Some of y'alls lack of compromise or willingness to admit that schools should be a made a tad more secure to help make them a harder target are going to end up getting guns taken away or at least more restrictions.

The same way they do now, the teacher just has to open the door to let them back in the room???

You know good and well that wasn't the part that most people had a problem with. Also almost every school I ever went to had a camera system and a fence. The problem people have with your statements are the fortified bunker for an armed guard and the all metal doors for every classroom

Tell me how much it should have cost then. Maybe we did get ripped off….

1. The 1950 style schools need to go. Build one all inclusive school building with the front office being the only entry point from the outside without a key or fob to the school.
2. One SRO manning the front office at all times.
3. second SRO roaming school grounds (I know this could get expensive for school boards.)
4. All administrators are trained and packing. Take part in active shooter training with LEO.
5. Sensors on all exterior doors that notifies administration when opened.
that's just off the top of my head.

A guard building is a fortified bunker? I'm talking about a 10x15 building with a bullet proof glass enclosed office and some computer screens.
I don't see the issue with metal doors at all. There are metal doors everywhere. Most schools already have several, they just usually have a big window in them. Make it a smaller window that you can't reach through and open the door. I'm not talking about thick steel.

For a camera system in a school for 300 people?
Just hallways and outside.
I'll ask my buddy, he owns a business doing that for places like Walmart. It isn't anywhere close to 300k though. He would be a multi millionaire in that case.

Who the frick is going to pay for all that?
I went to the same HS as my father - it was probably built in the 1940s - it's huge. Doors and windows everywhere.
Tearing that thing down and building your idea of a perfect building would probably cost over $100 million. That's just one hs - there are schools even older in the town I currently reside in - I'd guess at least a billion to demolish them and build new ones. Property taxes would have to quadruple to just pay the interest on the bonds.

HERE’S ANOTHER ROUGH ESTIMATE OF WHAT ONE MIGHT EXPECT TO PAY FOR THE INSTALLATION OF COMMERCIAL SECURITY CAMERAS:
Installation Costs for a Small Facility: $100 – $500
Installation Costs for a Medium Facility: $500 – $2,000
Installation Costs at a Larger Facility: $2,000 – $10,000
Installation of Cameras at : $10,000+
These are all very rough estimates. The cost of installation depends entirely on the number of cameras installed. If you have a small 500 square foot retail store, you’re going to pay a lot less than a 15 acres industrial facility with several large buildings, warehouses, and parking lots.

I get it.
I'm just throwing out ideas, but those old schools with wings and exterior class room doors and banks of windows is nearly impossible to secure.

7. Take the kids that are "on the spectrum" or showing red flags, remove them from the school, put them in a separate insane asylum. No need to do 1-6.

I understand, but we could just build something akin to missile silo and use those for classrooms. That wouldn't traumatize the kids at all.
I liked the idea posted earlier - identify these kids and send them off - I'd almost swear that's what we did with them when I was growing up. The really weird ones just kinda vanished.

Yes, cause no one will have any problems with that and no kids will get locked up that shouldn't be and all kids that should be will be.
And who is gonna pay for your psychiatric diagnosis and insane asylum?

My kids went to a large 6A school in the Jxn, MS burbs. Even though the school is new, there is virtually no security what so ever. People (parents) and in and out all day.
