I am confused on all the different kind of churches.

This is from a Protestant perspective:
The church that Christ founded began in the 1st century and still exists. It includes all that profess faith in him.

That church officially took the name of Roman Catholicism in 382 AD.
In 1054 AD the Eastern half of the church broke off but insisted that it was the original church. They have a good argument. It is the Eastern Orthodox Church.

In 1521 Martin Luther was excommunicated from the Roman Catholic Church though he believed he was believing and acting in accordance with the original 1st century church. Lutheranism was born. Anglicanism (1534) and Presbyterianism (1560) soon followed.

The Baptists didn't get truly established until 1689.

Baptists are a vibrant Protestant denomination (unfortunately). That's why I kind of laughed at your comment. Sorry.

Wasn’t Anglicanism eradicated during the Catholic inquisition?

Anyone watch the show "Under the Banner of Heaven" on Hulu?

Its about an event that happened in Utah among some mormons. I know mormons consider themselves Christians, but many Christians don't consider mormons Christian.

Is the whole Joseph Smith, Brigham Young thing what separates mormons from everyone else?
