My brother the psychologist had an interesting explanation on low job retention. Young people today were raised with self esteem promotion....participation trophies, 'A' for effort, etc. When you start a job there's this thing called 'the boss'.
The boss is irritating because he keeps telling you what to do. And if you do something wrong he criticizes you. Who needs that shite. I quit.

The Boomer participation trophy was buying a house for $10k, sitting on it for a few decades, and selling it for $500k
The younger generation isn't perfect by any stretch, but they also started up during a much tougher time to be successful than the olds. A degree becoming a standard requirement for a lot of entry level jobs in good industries has done a ton of damage.
