Coushatta is a nice little town. Too often, posters here used the term "shithole" because the town has a lot of black residents (which Coushatta does) and/or the town doesn't have a lot of money. Neither of these factors make a town a "Shithole."
I'm administering a settlement involving a large number of heirs of some black heirship property in Red River Parish. There are several hundred individuals, and with the exception of one individual who now lives in California, these individuals are great country folks with strong family values. I enjoy dealing with these heirs, especially those who still live in Red River Parish. I'm having kidney surgery (removing a giant stone) week after next, and some have called to say a prayer for me.
ETA: Because some of the families are large (which results in the % of ownership being split into small shares), some of the monthly distribution checks are less than $20. I'm amazed at the number of calls where someone calls to say "I realize it is a small amount, but I'm thankful to have it .. thanks for your work.". There really are a lot of good people in Coushatta.
