Get over it. Ricks had zero ties to LSU and made a business decision after going 11-11 in his two years in Baton Rouge. There are a lot of people on this board lying if they said they wouldn’t look at all the options if they were in his position.

Everything about this post says “bitch”

Ricks had no ties to LSU coming out of high school in California; after two years in the program he absolutely had ties to his teammates. I very much wish we could have retained Raymond so he and McGlothern would have had their coach but it is what it is.

Additionally, it’s in no way a “business decision.” Playing at LSU or Bama makes no difference whatsoever in draft stock for a DB. If anything the numbers say LSU gives you a slight advantage. But if you’re elite they’ll find you.

His business decision is that he knew he wouldn't be able to frick off at LSU anymore. Kid was a top corner in the country and would be a surefire first rounder had he stayed at LSU for next year and did the right things off the field.

what does the record matter if it was a "business decision"? You're having two different arguments here.

No I wouldn't. Matt House almost went to three straight super bowls, and he coached a Kentucky defense that was ranked 6th in the country prior to that.

First of all, Pelini was awful and I still looked good (in this scenario im Ricks, but with my mindset and not his). The first half of 2021 defense looked bad, and I still looked relatively good when I was out there. Now you're saying we get an actual good defensive coordinator, and younger position coaches that have a fire in them? There's a guy out there giving NIL deals to the top players here as well? Brian Kelly, a hell of a coach that has been to a national championship, and in the playoffs, and runs the team like a Saban? Why should I go to Saban?

Saban does not improve his draft stock, that's complete stupidity. All he had to do was continue what he was doing here, get an NIL deal, stay out of trouble, perform at the combine, and he would be a first rounder.

What position would that be? One of the better players who still made All American at LSU? Someone who was still going to be a 1st round pick? This game isn’t always about winning and no one knows what the future holds so no I wouldn’t be lying if I said I wouldn’t have went anywhere. I would have stayed with my team and performed at the best of my ability to help that team win.

LSU will be LSU regardless of any 1 player. All this did was hurt him imo. I know if I’m the GM of an NFL team, I’m looking at real teammates before looking at this guy. Now if he fell into my lap and he was the best player on my board by a long shot then yes, I’d still pick him and do my best to keep him committed to the team. I would think that most GM’s would rather not have to babysit anyone, therefore, will look at others before this guy because of this.

Had he stayed I don’t think there would be much change from Bama to LSU. So it wasn’t a smart move by him. It was a very selfish move and that’s fine but teams want team players. It wouldn’t have hurt him at all to stay. He would have still been seen as one of the best corners in the draft. On top of that he would have been seen as a team player so would likely have been all eyes on him. This changes that a little. Maybe not much but it will come up.
