no... there is a 3 year warranty... they will send you a box.. you send it to them on their coin... they send u one back

i shipped and had it back in less than a week....just make sure you follow ALL the instructions Microsoft gives you...

I know its a bummer. It happened to me Went online cotacted ms they sent a packaging. I sent it back and in 5 days i had a new one. no problems since.

Took me two weeks, but my shipping was screwed by a weekend. I shipped on a Friday. They replaced my old box with a brand new one.

If you bought it at Best Buy and bought the warranty thru BB, then you can box it up, bring it in and walk out with a new one. Same day. I've done it twice already.

certain ones work better. the one at walmart sucks.
it clips onto the back, but doesn't get rid of heat well.
get the one that it STANDS on, it will allow maximum dissipation of heat.

I didn't get the ring but I had a problem where the eye was scratching my disks..I sent it in a week later I got a refurb and I turned it on played for 5 min and it hit with the ring of death...sent it in ms apologized ...I bought a new one with BB warranty when I got the other refurb I saved it. Ms did decent by me gave me a couple free games but Cust service smoothed me over

Yeah, I got the red rings of death, and got mine back in eight days. However, I didn't get a new one. They were able to fix my current one
