Tre Morgan Injury Status?

Just wondering if anyone has heard anything specific about what his injury is. He's put his leg in a few awkward situations this year most notably last weekend.

Been wearing the hefty brace on his leg. He was DH'ing instead and not playing 1b on Tuesday. It's clearly impacting his ability to run.

Hate that he's not at full strength but since he's playing through it I am assuming its pain tolerance issue.

Any insight or updates from Jay that I missed?

Tre’ Morgan hyperextended his knee 3-4 weeks ago and has been playing with a brace, says

Thanks. I had not seen that. Hopefully he can get back to full strength this year.

no idea of recovery time but, maybe one of the other more knowledgeable posters have a clue on how long it takes to recover from this particular injury. or if it can even happen while continuing to play.

He hasn't had any time to recover, so it's hard to say. If he had been sitting for a few weeks, he would probably be a little farther along. It was good to see him get some time off his feet this week. If he keeps taking the week day games off or as DH, I think he'll be close to 100% in a few weeks.

First at bat vs. Miss. State. Extended leg out to try to hit the first base bag before the throw. He came up sort of lame and it's bothered him since.

If he knew how to work the bag and the throw, he wouldn't be hurt. Guy has terrible footwork.

I wouldn’t have even DHed him all these midweek games—get him off his feet. And I like Leto—I think he should get some weekend starts at 1B, let Jobert play right, and DH Tre. At least until Dugas is ready to come back. It doesn’t look like Tre will get back to 100% this season without significant rest, though. And since we can’t afford to take him out of the weekend lineup, maybe he’s just gonna have to deal with the pain for the rest of the season. Which sucks. But I think Jay made the right move dropping him down from lead off into a more RBI spot in the lineup.

I think he only DH'd once in mid week, actually. He's been at first the rest of the time. Not 100% sure on that.

Regardless, I think I would have had to sit him way sooner. He looks crippled at times. But, I understand the pressure was on to steer the ship in the right direction so you push him through. It's probably too late to sit him now unless you run off a 5-1 run in the next 2 weeks. So, yes, we're probably going to have a hobbled Morgan for the rest of the year unless we go off and give him Ole Miss and Vandy off...or maybe Jay is eyeing another time for a rest. I would have preferred not having for a few weeks earlier then having him 100% for the stretch run.

It seems like he’s selling out for power a little more right now too.

Injury or not, I knew he would do that some this year. He has some juice, he just hasn't hit like that since he got here. More inside out and contact conscious than he was in high school. He'll find a good balance.

ETA: I projected Tre in the 6 hole before the season, sacrificing some average for power, and got blasted for it. Guess what? If Dugas was being Dugas, Tre would probably be in the 6 hole right now. Pearson leading off in RF, Crews/Doughty/Berry/Dugas, then Tre in the 6 hole, Jobert at 7, Thompson at 8, catcher at 9. That's spicy.

Well if he feels like he can’t leg one out…

It was pretty puzzling they didn’t just give Tre Tuesday off.
