Don’t recall the first, but I had many Bob Seger, Van Halen, Boston, etc.

The last two I recall buying were Van Halen Women and Children First and AC/DC Back in Black.

When I bought the Van Halen 8 track, an older guy was looking at a tiny rotisserie of cassettes that the music store had on the counter. They probably had 20 to choose from. I wondered what kind of idiot would buy those.

Within months, I was bemoaning the loss of my $$ investment in 8-tracks and replacing my under-dash 8-track player with an in-dash AM/FM Cassette player. I remember one guy ran both players in his car for a while.

Not that many years later, a guy I knew got a CD player in his car. I had seen many home CD players by then, but in a car? I could not believe that it would not skip when you hit a bump.

Years back with a buddy of mine in Austin, prepping for a Plant and Page show at UT, dude on the radio says first person that shows with a working Zeppelin 8-track gets tickets, 2nd row for the show. Buddy grabs 2 8-track boxes from the attic and screaming in we went. Got there and some cat was already there, but the deal was the tape had to play on the radio, and his was screwed (sat in the sun). Opened up both boxes and there was 4 Zeppelin tapes to chose from. Kashmir was played on the radio. We got the tickets plus bonus swag for having all the other tapes that we thumbed through, talking about back in the day. Good times!
