You do realize that most of these people coming in aren't from Mexico right?

And, blanket open borders is a TERRIBLE thing for this country. The about 70% of the money they are making (often taking jobs from your fellow countrymen) is sent back to their country. That's a vacuum of money being siphoned from our economy.

Plus, illegals have figured out how to take advantage of the legacy social programs like EBT cards and Medicaid, further draining taxpayer money to people that shouldn't be otherwise eligible for it.

I do agree however that if Pubs took more interest in the ones that are here they could win them over because most Hispanics absolutely loathe Dem policies.

bamarep I hear you but here is the disconnect.

The immigrants who came through Ellis Island wanted a better life for themselves, there were no safety nets other than other immigrants or churches.

Today's immigrants see exactly what you mentioned, the vast amount of social programs, PARTICULARLY if you birth a child in the US before you can be deported.

When Trump put in "wait in Mexico" they did their best rendition of Forrest Gump, stopped running and simply went home, they had no wish to follow the rules THOSE PEOPLE WERE ALREADY FOLLOWING THE RULES to become a citizen. The border became a trickle.

We should be welcoming with open arms (sans the chinese) the foreign students who are actually going to university to stay and become citizens, rights for the Indian programmers who are now just slave labor for the "altruistic" IT firms, not a bunch of hooligan ms13 misfits.

I agree blanket open borders is bad, and I completely understand that a lot of the money filters back to Mexico. I don’t agree that they are taking jobs, most Americans are not going to get up and pick fruit for 12 hours a day. If they did, there would not be the eagerness for immigrant workers to come here. We benefit from that cheap labor quite a bit.

I think the Republican Party just assumes because a person is not a 50 year old white guy that a conservative message won’t work. I think if there was a more supportive message the perceived negative could turn into a positive. Just my opinion. I have been wrong many times on these macro issues lol.
