I used to fish with Steve all the time as well as Ginger on occasion. He brought the kahle hook along with live pogy style fishing to Louisiana. He knew how to fish the underwater jetty system in the gulf for trophy trout in the winter/spring and dive it during the summer to find the secret holes that no one knew about.

Last time I saw him was right before he got sick. He definitely taught me how to fish for trophy specks and lemonfish on the rocks.

I have a none fishing related story, Steve use to drag race VW Beetles in the mid 70’s. Carroll’s Raceway a dirt oval which is now Baton Rouge Raceway had a VW class to which Harry Littlefield, who’s family owned Roadrunner towing, talked Steve into putting his drag motor in his dirt car for a race. As luck would have it Littlefield flipped the car in first turn on first lap with the car ending up upside down. I remember Steve running out on the track never even looking at Littlefield that was hanging upside down but was only concerned about his motor ??. Steve had his motor out of Littlefield’s car before they left the racetrack that night!
