Honestly, the best bang for your buck is the Tissot PRX Powermatic 80. It can be had for $650. It’s the love-child of the Rolex Oysterquartz 17000 and an AP Royal Oak 15202. It far out punches its weight class and competes with watches in the ~$2000 category. The bracelet is solid while not being overtly rugged, the clasps is neat and works well, and the dial has a waffle dial that gives it a little extra panache (think the AP Royal Oak). The Powermatic 80 movement boasts 80 hours of power reserve, which is enough to continue telling time accurately even if the watch is not worn for three days.
