I happen to think he was very funny. But he wasn’t “just” a comedian. He was a secular prophet. Not in the sense of predicting the future (although if you pay attention…), but in the sense of calling out the truth to people. He wrapped it up in just enough comedy to make it palatable for the masses.

I have said it before, but I’d love to hear him riff on todays world. I imagine it would start with something like “See- I told you assholes about this a long time ago.”
