I have had issues with battery problems and my solar charge controllers. It appears the Renogy charge controllers are not able to work more than a few months.

I see Victron is made in the Netherlands and might do the job. Even a 15 amp would meet my requirements of keeping the gas fridge going on my farm. BUT I am tired of cheap junk not working plus a 60 mile drive.

ANSWER:
I went with another Renology MPPT like the one that failed.

- So far all controllers seem to be able to fry themselves if the battery gets disconnected.

- So far all controllers seem intolerant to moisture.

Solution:
I decided to go with the cheaper unit since spending more on a controller that might fail seems foolish.

I reengineered the storage case to be more tolerant with water, plus made it more difficult for it to capture water. It has been running for several months, no water despite heavy rains. Nothing is failing everything 100%.

Reccommendations?

Will Prowse seems to be really knowledgeable about his sort of stuff.

Yeah he is recommending renogy which has number of engineering issues that affect reliability issues.
