Take out the firing pins and such.


Pray house doesn't get broken into and dad doesn't try to defend himself with inoperable firearm.

Do you think a person with dementia is capable of determining who is an actual intruder and not a friend or relative? I have had experience with a family member with dementia, they should not have access to firearms.

The likelihood of an elderly man committing suicide with a firearm is 1000x more likely than him being killed by a home intruder.

For the OP, consider the consequences of if he tries to kill himself with a non-working firearm. It would probably be better to have them removed from the home.
