Okay, okay, so you’re assigning credit in the narrowest of terms, and that’s your prerogative to do so.

So you won’t give credit unless the coach was actually physically present for the round of 64 and round of 32 games.

Not the guy who coached the whole season, won the SEC conference and GOT the team to the tournament and tournament ready in the first place, but wasn’t allowed to coach in the tournament?

If Coach K had coached Duke to winning the ACC conference, but was not able to actually be present at the NCAA tournament, I wonder if he wouldn’t have been credited with reaching the Sweet Sixteen either, had he done so?

You’ve simplified the assignation of credit to 2 games that WW didn’t even get a chance to coach, after a highly successful season (and as far as I know his ban was restricted to actual in-game communication. He was able to communicate with his players and coaches at other times).

Fact remains that we don’t know if WW would’ve coached them to beyond the Sweet 16. He was never given that opportunity. Elite 8 was a distinct possibility with that team.

Personally, I’m sure that Will would’ve done a lot better coaching job than Tony Benford did in the Sweet 16. I was at that game and Tony looked lost. He had never had that type of responsibility in WW’s crew. He was appointed interim head coach by Alleva. Not chosen by WW. I still don’t know why Greg Haier wasn’t made HC. Far more qualified for in-game coaching.

So I’m change the semantics to “Credit for reaching the Sweet 16 goes to the coaching ensemble headed by Will Wade”.

I immediately discredit anyone that uses Wade not coaching a Sweet 16 team as their argument. It's completely without context and shows their true colors. Not worth our time.
