Chris's Specialty Foods opened a store in December 2019...then the pandemic hit!
But...they do have the best boiled crawfish in the D/FW area!
I will be boiling this weekend! Come see me!

I remember it like it was yesterday — the start of the 2020 crawfish season, weeks before we learned a pandemic would hit our nation. I was feasting on a platter of boiled crawfish at a nearby eatery’s communal table. I asked two diners next to me if they were enjoying their crawfish and one replied, “These are just OKAY, but nothing compared to what we had at Chris’s Specialty Foods in Frisco a few weeks ago.”
At that moment, my quest for authentic Cajun cuisine in North Texas would be forever changed. Days later, I headed north to Frisco to check out this grab-and-go Cajun specialty-foods shop. Tucked in a strip shopping center just off the service road, Chris’s Specialty Foods might make you feel like you’ve traveled across state lines to a Louisiana neighborhood meat market. It’s a dream come true for Dallas-area Bayou-state transplants or folks like me, who simply love authentic Louisiana cuisine.

This is great news! My dad used to shop at the Millerville location all the time and he would smoke one of their stuffed chickens pretty much every Sunday for after church.
We live in Roanoke, so we're about a half hour away, but we have to stock up on our boudin like twice a year when we visit home, so it's awesome to know that there's a good source closer to us when we have a craving and the freezer's empty.
Looking forward to visiting!

My cousin lives in Roanoke! If I had an extra day I would stay with her. You can see the Speedway from the entrance to her neighborhood.

That means she lives by the Buccee's! I would be there every day.
Roanoke is a great little town.

There's a place on 423 in Little Elm called "Mudbugs Bar & Grill" that has the best we've found in the Frisco/Plano area. The owners are Louisiana transplants and the food is awesome!

Agreed. Big fan of Mudbugs Bar and Grill. Have not tried their crawfish but have had several other menu items there.

It's been forever since I lived in Dallas (thank God) but Nate's Seafood in Addison boils killer bugs.

When I lived there in 1992 and 1993 Nates was the place to go.
I can assure you, NOT only are Chris's better than Nates...they are better than Sammy's and Tony's.

Do you boil every weekend there? Unfortunately can't make it this weekend.
Also do you know if the sell live crawfish by chance? Want to attempt my first boil this season.

That's funny and exactly when I was going to Nate's.
And, coincidentally, just talked to my Dad who lives in Plano. He said he went to Chris' last weekend and grabbed some mardi gras fixins.

I haven’t had them this year, but had them several times last year and the best I’ve had in the area.
