Green energy will solve our dependence on Russian oil"
We didn't have a dependence on Russian oil until these fricksticks took over.
The ironic thing is we are NOT currently dependent on Russian oil. Russian oil represents only 10% of our imported oil. I was surprised to see that the number one of importer of oil to the US is........Canada. Slightly more than 50% of our oil is imported from Canada. They know we're not dependent on Russian oil, but to say so plays into their narrative of "we need more green energy so we don't have to depend on those bad Russians." Claiming we're dependent on Russian oil also allows them to attribute increasing oil prices to the Russians instead of worsening inflation. The small amount of Russian oil we import could easily be made up for by increased US production, but we also know the administration will NOT encourage that.
