River Ranch has quite a few new hotels and plenty of nice restaurants and Downtown has quite a few bars and restaurant but I don't go down there at night anymore so I am not the one to offer advice. It depends on what you like to do but if you are coming the weekend of the 27th then it is really crowded downtown as that a big festival. Anytime before that and you should have no problem with lodging or food. This may help you get an idea of the area The biggest spring festival is the Festival International on April 27 - May 1, but there is probably a different festival every week in April .
