Rossi drove a solid race but he's not going to be happy dropping four places from his starting position. I don't see how he can stay with Andretti if he can sign with another top team. For now he can blame "something" about his current situation for his woes, but I suspect that the days of him being seen as a championship contender have passed him by. We'll get a better sense of that if he can sign with Ganassi or Penske. Maybe replace Johnson next year at Ganassi. I hope he can change teams, that way there are no excuses.

Newgarden's awful race sees him dropping two places in the championship. Defending champion Palou is putting together another steady, Dixon-esque season. Will Power actually has the most consistent performance so far, finishing 4th or better in every race.
The top four guys are within 10 points. Also note that every race has been won in a Chevy-powered car, but the championship leader is driving a Honda!
Championship After 4 Races
(+/- number of positions gained or lost)
P01 Alex Palou (Ganassi / Honda) 144 pts (+2)
P02 Scott McLaughlin (Penske / Chevy) 141 pts (+0)
P03 Josef Newgarden (Penske / Chevy) 135 pts (-2)
P04 Will Power (Penske / Chevy) 134 pts (+0)
P05 Pato O'Ward (McLaren / Chevy) 114 pts (+4)
P06 Scott Dixon (Ganassi / Honda) 113 pts (-1)
P07 Rinus VeeKay (Carpenter / Chevy) 106 pts (+0)
P08 Romain Grosjean (Andretti / Honda) 101 pts (-2)
P09 Graham Rahal (Rahal Letterman Lanigan / Honda) 84 pts (+1)
P10 Marcus Ericsson (Ganassi / Honda) 84 pts (-2)
P11 Colton Herta (Andretti / Honda) 79 pts (+0)
P12 Simon Pagenaud (Meyer Shank / Honda) 69 pts (+0)
P13 Alexander Rossi (Andretti / Honda) 62 pts
P14 Takuma Sato (Coyne / Honda) 61 pts (+1)
P15 Christian Lundgaard [R] (Rahal Letterman Lanigan / Honda) 57 pts
P16 Felix Rosenqvist (McLaren / Chevy) 56 pts
P17 Hélio Castroneves (Meyer Shank / Honda) 55 pts (-4)
P18 Jimmie Johnson (Ganassi / Honda) 51 pts (-4)
(Partial list. 29 drivers have scored points.)

I'm still not sure how he lost 4 spots on the last round of pit stops.
I was a Rossi fan when he came into IndyCar and it looked at first like he was going to be a star. However, I agree that he's not trending in a good direction right now. Maybe a change of scenery will do him good.
