as you said, ammo is a problem

It has been a problem, but Germany bought back a whole lot of the ammo that it had sold to Qatar, and they are about to get their new production line in Spain operational. I think that the ammo question has mostly been resolved.

I'm starting to see videos like this (combined arms/mechanized assault) emerging more frequently.

In the 1st of these two videos, The Ukrainians perform a mechanized assault on a Russian position using tanks, IFVs, and dismounted infantry with drone overwatch.

??The ????Ukrainian military of 1 assault and 1 mechanized battalion of 3 separate assault brigades conducted successful assault operations in the #Bakhmut direction.

The result is the flight of ????Russian troops from their positions.

The second video shows the Ukrainians training to assault trench lines with support of IFVs

Germany would have done Ukraine a much better service by pulling some of their old Gepards out of storage and gotten them up and running again instead of sending Leopard 1 tanks. Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands all have them in storage. Just seems like a better use of money and resources getting AA systems to Ukraine rather than outdated tanks with thin armor. Not to say the Leopard 1 won’t be useful, I’m sure it will. I just question how effective they will be against other tanks.

Israel has the Smash 2000L, which is an AI assisted, anti-drone optic designed to be mounted on small arms.

quote:

In recent years, drones and UAS have become a persistent threat, enabling hostile forces to gather critical tactical intelligence and even make direct attacks. These unmanned aircraft are surprisingly fast and nimble, making them very hard to counter even for skilled marksmen. SMASH family of Fire Control Solutions offers precise, swift, and simple hard-kill elimination of this threat. SMASH fire control system put a precision anti-drone capability at the fingertips of its users, featuring built-in targeting algorithms that can track and hit even very small drones skimming along at high speed, at ranges of up to 250 meters.

And their Smash AD...

quote:

The SMASH AD includes an integrated Laser Range Finder (LRF). The SMASH AD system can also receive and display target information from an external sensor, radar, or detection system.

The user identifies the target (independently or by external sensors) while validating the target range through the LRF.

Once the target is locked, the system automatically tracks the target while the user pulls and holds the trigger until a high probable fire control (FC) solution releases the round with precision accuracy. The SMASH AD promises precise, swift, safe and simple hard-kill elimination of drone threats.
