I'd caution against using your own experience as the framework for geopolitics, because it generally isn't a reliable indicator of anything.


Keep in mind I was living there like a month after Bin Laden was killed and we all knew the government hid them. Tensions were high. Yeah Pakistan I agree that’s not likely to happen, but in Beijing where the cops don’t give one frick about foreigners fighting with one another and it was a no man’s land for both of us, yeah tensions rose quickly in that city.

Dated a chick over there that had some Pakistani friends, and she was clear on how much they hated Americans and wanted us to die. Different environment than now, and I doubt tensions would be as high today as they were back then.
