It's not a movie effect. Its called a slip hammer. Cowboys modified their guns to fire with just hitting the hammer and releasing it. I can't see how this helps Baldwin if he's filming a Western.

I thought they just kept the trigger held down and would slap the hammer.
Would achieve the same thing.
I know we all want to Blame Alec because he mocked dear leader. But the blame lies on whomever had a loaded gun on the movie set. (The armorer)
