I learned what an ‘interception’ was while stacking firewood with my Dad and listening to the LSU game. Jeff Wickersham threw the interception. For about a year, I got the words ‘interception’ and ‘wickersham’ mixed up.

I remember doing 6 inches in football practice, raising your extended legs up 6 inches while lying on your back in full pads and holding it.
Coach would get on other players yelling " I wanna see 6 inches!". Someone would always bust out laughing and drop their legs. They'd usually be running laps until they dropped

For a while, I was a bit confused when a batter would be retired…they use to say that all the time on the braves broadcasts back in the early/mid 90’s.

I never did but remember being on the football field in middle school and after a fumble accidently pointing that the other team had recovered it. Embarrassing AF.

My biggest question mark is this:
In football, during a kickoff, once the ball goes 10 yards it is a live ball able to be recovered by the kicking team up to but not including the goal line. In other words, if the kicking team recovers the ball 1mm short of the goal line, they have first and goal right there.
Why can't they recover the ball in the end zone for a touch down? I remember jumping out of my skin one time because an LSU returner just let the ball lay in the end zone without picking it up. I was going out of my mind. "Oh My God!!!! They are going to recover it for a TD!!!!!" Nope. Touch back.

In the NFL they only recently changed the rules to where a kick that hasn’t been in possession of the receiving team in the end zone and is recovered by the kicking team results in a touchback. Was college football really ahead of the NFL with that?

I used to say RBIs when it should clearly be RsBI.
Also used to call them TimeOuts…now obviously I’m no longer an idiot and call them TimesOut

Not so much terminology but strategy....
I played strong safety in football and for the life of me i could never figure out who was my responsibility on an option play. My coach would break it down to me if i had pitch man or running back like five times..... I'd be like ok i got it...
The play would start and my mind would turn into a potato and I'd freeze every time lol. FML

If there was way 2:13 left in an NBA game and someone called me and asked how long until the game would be over…I used to respond…2 minutes and 13 seconds. Now I’m no longer an idiot and properly respond 27 minutes or so

I can usually pick up the rules for sports just by watching it but cricket confuses the hell out of me.
Same. Look up “cricket explained in baseball terminology” on YouTube. Several good ones. Makes it a lot easier to wrap your head around.

I hated doing inches. Let’s together, let’s spread, legs together, rest. Do it again.
