I agree that would be problematic. But it's not an accurate analogy. If I give my fingerprints to the police, I expect it to be in their database. But I do not expect the police to have access to my medical records. But a rape kit is an investigation tool of the police.

This is exactly what’s happening. Authorities are secretly using rape kits to build their DNA databases.
A lot of people are hesitant to take genealogy tests or submit their DNA due to privacy concerns. However, we’re supposed to applaud people we entrust to protect and serve us when one of the first steps they take in a rape investigation is to surreptitiously collect the DNA of the victim?
The labs that test and store DNA evidence are not always secure government facilities either. A lot of the work is contracted out. DNA databases with names and addresses are big business, and it’s rarely for crime fighting.
