I cooked for the longest on a Weber Kettle. Makes awesome BBQ honestly.
I now cook on a Kamado Joe Jr and a Big Joe 3. I would start with a Kettle and if you find you are using it a ton, upgrade to something better. Weber Kettle or Weber Performer with a slow n sear is a great option.
Weber also makes a Kamado that is great as well.

I learned to grill on a Weber 45 years ago. My father still uses one and that's always been my favorite as well. I've owned some really expensive grills, but I've always gone back to the Weber. I use it for smoking too. It's just the all-around best grill I've ever used.
