Yeah the old campus was located roughly in the green space between the new state capital and the rest of downtown. The pictures I've seen show some neat buildings. I wish they hadn't been torn down. I guess the Pentagon Barracks are all that's left.

I don’t believe the Pentagon Barracks were part of LSU.
As a kid I remember seeing some of the old buildings on southwest corner of fifth street and Spanish Town Road. It was a long two story building with a long balcony if memory serves.
