So will businesses be required to stop selling deer feed/corn in CWD ban areas?

Especially in Tensas, Franklin, and Madison parishes. Why should it be legal to sell and buy, but not put out?

I doubt it. It’s legal to have a bird feeder.

I know right. Was legal to sell across MS for years, even though it was illegal to hunt over it at the time.

Why wouldn't they put a ban in a 50 mile radius of where they found it and see how it plays out?
Also, in Ms couldn't you still bait with corn it just had to come from a feeder and not in a pile?

Not a chance in hell. One reason why a ban will actually hurt a lot of hunters because a large contingent will right on continue to bait.
I know they damn well still where I hunt.

How we going to trap hogs and feed ducks with no sack corn?
And dont get me started on coons.

Folks who sell corn would fight tooth and nail. I stopped at a hardware store in Columbia last week and overheard the owner tell a customer they sold 21,000 bags of corn last year.
Is this possible?

Definitely possible.
Here in Delhi. At times none of the 3 sellers had rice bran or corn. They would sell out shipments in a day. Bran went faster than corn.

This is the rules for Mississippi hot zones. Read it and expect something similar for next hunting season in the new Louisiana hot zone.
LINK
The big hassle is taxidermy and boiled skulls. I’m expecting that all taxi work will need to be done in the hot zone. That’s not a lot of options. And many hunters have taxidermist that they like to use. Time to learn how to fully Cape a buck or get a hot zone taxidermist.
Another thought. I saw the horns off or saw the spine for a euro mount while at camp. I’ve got brains and spinal fluid going everywhere. Is that a good thing?
We’ve got three parishes to stop the spread.

I had a buck I killed in Mississippi that I wanted to mount. Being a rookie at removing the skull cap while preserving the entire head skin, I spent 2 hours trying to get the skull cap off without f-Ing it up beyond repair. I eventually gave up because it was obvious I didn’t have the right tools to do it right. Still pisses me off every time I walk by the rack on my wall knowing I should have a beautiful mount attached to those horns.
I’ve come up with a plan to do it right next time but as fate would have it there hasn’t been a next time yet.
Also heard a story of a kid’s trophy buck being confiscated and incinerated because he crossed state lines with it.
I get it’s the law right now but why not allow it to be tested and returned to the hunter?

Why wouldn’t you report them?

I figured that would be the absurd reasoning.

Ok how about this one? They burn your camp down. They frick with your stands so you fall out. They pour salt all over your food plots. I mean the list goes on and on.
Posted on 2/6/22 at 10:17 am to Wolfmanjack
I guess you wouldn’t report that either, in fear of your stitches.

If the department wants to get serious about controlling baiting, all they need to do is fly the area.

Buy it elsewhere. Farmers are your friend.
People are overreacting to the cwd feed ban. Tensas was banned in 2018 from end of deer season until around august.
Everything will be fine unless you’re a member of the big money club that turned it in.
Will be interesting to see how many are reported going forward after ldwf decimates the deer population in and around the area of the reported case.

The ban in 2018 was when CWD was found across the river. Big difference with it being found in Tensas Parish this time. I don’t expect feeding to be legal next fall.
Like you, I assume they’ll shoot a bunch at night in the coming days and get an idea about what they’re dealing with. Heard it was an 8 yr old buck that had it.
