"Tigerbait!"

True story, an insurance adjuster came to my home on Sunday to check out my wind damage from Gustav. He had an accent, so I asked him where he was from, he laughed and told me Oxford, Miss. Said he was a big Ole Miss fan, so I Tigerbaited my insurance adjuster. We had a good conversation, but the morale of this story is, when someone Tiger Bait's you, give him money!

What I don't like about "Tigerbait" is that there is a certain faction of LSU 'fans' on campus who assume that is their duty to "tigerbait" every living moving organism not wearing purple and gold.
What they don't realize, is that they have probably ALREADY been "tigerbaited" to death by other Tiger fanatics at other venues on campus.

What I find works well is just to feign mock horror to pacify the lunatics' 'tigerbait' fix, and just do what you originally said - smile and keep walking.

I do have to say though, that 99.9 % of the "Tigerbaiting" is simple good-natured ribbing and indeed a sort of "welcoming" to campus and Death Valley.

I daresay that some Tiger fans do it just to be "one of the guys" and to show off in front of other Tiger fans.
