MoneyGeek published the study in December 2021. They analyzed FBI crime statistics in 297 cities around the country to calculate the cost of crime in each area. Nationwide, MoneyGeek found the total cost of crime in the U.S. topped $200 billion in 2020.
The cost of crime includes impacts to victims, like the loss of stolen property and medical bills, MoneyGeek explained, as well as the cost to the justice system. Violent crimes typically result in a higher cost than nonviolent crimes, MoneyGeek said.
The study found the most dangerous cities, ranked by the highest cost of crime per capita to be:
1. St. Louis ($11,574 per capita)
2. Jackson, Mississippi ($9,138 per capita)
3. Detroit ($7,292 per capita)
4. New Orleans ($7,214 per capita)
5. Baltimore ($7,091 per capita)
6. Memphis, Tennessee ($6,884 per capita)
7. Cleveland ($6,423 per capita)
8. Baton Rouge, Louisiana ($6,150 per capita)
9. Kansas City, Missouri ($5,382 per capita)
10. Shreveport, Louisiana ($5,153 per capita)

We could get those numbers much lower if we just didn't prosecute.
Oh wait, they're currently trying that theory in New Orleans:

In the first eight months of the new DA’s administration, a two-thirds majority of felony cases closed by dismissal and only 17% resulted in
a felony conviction, which represents a 179% increase in the dismissal rate compared to 2020.

This is happening in a lot of cities with activist judges and horrible DA's. It's some of the most backwards thinking I've observed from the modern progressive left wing, and it creates a highly unfair justice system in which the victims of crime and the communities that have to deal with criminal activities are totally fricked over in the name of racial or social justice.
This nonsense results in increased criminal activity increased recidivism - both of which are incredibly hard on neighborhoods and taxpayers.
A rapid and intense resurgence in violent crime will jeopardize the gains a lot of cities have made since the 1970s and could even result in another spell of rapid outward migration and divestment from America's urban centers. That's the price of this bullshite experiment. You willing to pay that?

There’s something all of those cities have in common, I just can’t seem to put my finger on it. Maybe too many statues?

This nonsense results in increased Democrat voter turnout
