Everyone keeps fapping to or freaking out about Russia moving 120,000 soldiers to the Ukrainian border and another 140,000 in the area. However nobody ever mentions that the Ukrainians have 250,000 active duty troops in the area and they have mobilized their 400,000 reserve force which is made up of combat veterans while most of the Russian force is inexperienced conscripts. Ukraine also has more tanks in the area than Russia and Ukrainians with the exception of the 200,000 old people left in the separatist regions, hate the Russian more than the KKK hated African Americans.

Russia probably will take some territory because they have the air advantage but they will get one hell of a bloody nose and have a hell of an insurgency to deal with.

Glory to Ukraine!

Reminder that more people in Ukraine are ethnically Russian and speak Russian than total forces on both sides of the border.

Meaning.

This isnt Ukraine vs. Russia

This is 35% of Ukraine that wants to be Russia vs. Ukraine.

Nothing’s going to happen.

Even Kiev says this is posturing on the administration’s part. And they’re the ones who would be freaking out.

The potential combat zone is in Ukraine so I would certainly hope they have more troops there than the Russians.

I think Kiev is intentionally trying to look complacent and unprepared, to make the west feel sorry for them and feel obligated to step in. Naw I don’t know. But maybe.

Vlad had the green light from that idiot Joe to go in last week. If it were his intent, he'd have gone in by now. He's really not doing anything more than he's done for the past 10 years, i.e., flexing a little bit.

The Germans setup a Ukrainian puppet state after the Bolshevik revolution.

The Germans had realized, belatedly, that their clever strategy, unleashing Lenin, was a mistake, and they tried to organize the Eastern Europeans in a defense against the Soviets.

The Germans declared that Ukrainian would be the official language of the new state. Which was a surprise to the people of Kiev, because no one in Kiev spoke it.

Have you ever been to Ukraine? Have you been to Ukraine since 2014?

I have been to both eastern and western Ukraine and have friends in Lviv, Kyiv, and Kharhiv. The whole line about ethnic Russians in Ukraine wanting to be Russians is fake news. The ethnic Russians who wanted to be part of Russia either live in Crimea or one of the separatist regions and over 60% of the population of the separatist regions are retired pensioners.

The vast majority of the ethnic Russians who still live in Ukraine no longer identify as ethnically Russian. They identify as Ukrainians of Russian descent or just as Ukrainians.

Long story short. Your point is nothing but a Kremlin generated lie.

Those are also Russian robots. Russia has a bad track record with new technology. Remember the T-14 which broke down on its debut and 7 years behind and still hasn’t entered production yet?

Remember the Russian stealth fighter jet that Russia started working on in 1999 and still hasn’t gone into production. India pulled out of that project because the plane was late and used Ukrainian made engines which Russia could not replace.

So just because Russia says they have something doesn’t necessarily mean that it is worth a shite.

That is because Kyiv had been an imperial Russian city. The people who spoke Ukrainian were part of the Austrian-Hungarian empire prior to WW1.

Also that was 100 years ago, before Stalin and Moscow starved millions of citizens and incompetence and lies from the powers that were in Moscow caused a nuclear disaster in Ukraine, and before Moscow invaded Ukraine.

Yeah the whole robot thing was pretty much a joke, although I don’t doubt that they have a few robots of some sort. But really though, I’ve gotta go with the likelihood that Russia’s military is plenty capable. They’re no United States military, but they shouldn’t have too too much trouble with Ukraine, at the end of the day.

Ukraine even being a country is a generated lie.

The eastern half of the country absolutely wants to be Russian.

Crimea wanted to be Russian so bad that the known losers protested going to the vote because it was so overwhelming they wanted to say it wasnt a real vote.

Ukraine wont win this.

That doesnt mean the USA has to do anything about it.

The USA had trouble with the Taliban in Afghanistan and Al Queda in Iraq and those forces are no where as large as the Ukrainian military. Russia has the technology edge but it doesn’t have the ability to fight an insurgency made up of > 500,000 trained and combat experienced veterans who have been preparing for this exact scenario for 8 years now.

If Putin wanted eastern Ukraine then he should have taken it back in 2015.

No it’s not

Again have you ever been there? Have you ever talked to a Ukrainian?

The vote had no observers and there were armed Russian troops in the polling places. That is the definition of an invalid election.

Yes it will. Putin will be dead from Parkinson long before Russia is able to put down the insurgency in Ukraine.

The treaty we signed back in the 90s says otherwise.

ETA: The few Ukrainians who I have personally talked while in eastern Ukraine who said they wanted to be Russians are either pensioners who believe they will get a bigger pension check from Moscow than from
Kyiv.

Could be. But I also read that Russia has a bunch of air launched and ground launched hypersonic missiles that are good to go.
