IIRC, didn’t Bananas have a scene where Woody Allen questioned himself on the stand?

I know they had a part where he was bound and gagged to a chair, a la Larry Flynt, and yet he still badgered a witness into recanting.

Dunno what the rule is in New York.

That genius who said "I killed him but I want you to tell it like it is if you're going to tell it" was representing himself.

In NY? Pretty sure you don’t need a license unless things changed in the past 30 years.

The fricking Long Island railroad shooter of the 90s defended himself in court. Pretty sure he wasn’t a lawyer.

Remember when the MSM was pimping him as a presidential challenger to GEOTUS.

John Heilemann ( The Circus & MSNBC) gave the guy handjobs for a year thinking he was going to burn Trump to the ground.

What is that old adage, “A man representing himself in court has a fool for a client”?

Amusingly it's worked out better so far him than not.

Yahoo - Avenatti asks to represent self

quote:

. . . Although Furman told Avenatti earlier that his right to represent himself was “sharply curtailed” once his trial began, the judge granted Avenatti's request after Avenatti insisted he wanted to act as his own lawyer, as he did at a trial in California for six weeks last year.

At that federal trial, he represented himself against criminal charges that he cheated clients of millions of dollars, and the proceedings ended in a mistrial.

Before, in early 2020, Avenatti was convicted of trying to extort up to $25 million from sportswear giant Nike by threatening to tarnish the company's reputation if it didn't meet his demands. He was sentenced to 2 1/2 years in prison. At that trial, he did not testify and was represented by lawyers. . . .
